India is at a critical demographic crossroads. The population aged 60 years and above is growing faster than ever before. In 2021, India had 138 million senior citizens, a number expected to rise to 194 million by 2031, and further to around 330 million by 2050. Recognizing this global shift, the United Nations has declared 2021–2030 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing.
Improved healthcare, longer life expectancy, and smaller family sizes are positive signs of progress—but they also bring new challenges. With changing lifestyles and increased migration of younger generations, many elders today face isolation, reduced support, and growing dependency.
Ageing is not a problem—it is a responsibility we must prepare for. By creating supportive communities, meaningful engagement, and dignified care systems, we can ensure that India’s elders live healthier, more connected, and purposeful lives.

Nischinta Foundation believes that elders are valuable contributors to society—within their families, their local communities, and the broader social fabric—through their experience, wisdom, and continued engagement. Nischinta Foundation was born out of extensive dialogue and collaboration among experienced professionals from the development sector. Having worked across diverse causes and possessing deep expertise in both programme implementation and policy advocacy at national and international levels, these individuals came together to establish Nischinta and proactively respond to the growing challenges of an ageing society.
Founded by a committed group of professionals in June 2015 in Hyderabad. We believe ageing is a positive and rewarding experience.
Nischinta Foundation envisions a society where elders lead a peaceful, active and productive life with dignity, purpose and joy.

Rapid urbanization and digital world is dissolving the joint family system and increasing the nuclear families. The number of ageing people in India would increase in the next two decades and our next generation people are not ready to support and extend the care for needs of the elderly people. For such elderly people, who are not looked after well by their family, Nischinta Foundation would be a right place to live in. It provides a peaceful atmosphere in a fully assisted manner. This home launched for elderly people would strive its best to touch the elderly hearts and sooth them emotionally in their final journey of their life.

Young generations like me are really unaware of the issues related to old people. We generally feel that there is generation gap and discount the experiences of older people. When Nischinta Foundation people contacted me and explained about the need to work on the issues related to elders, I was moved and never thought that it would be a big area to understand. Nevertheless I feel people; especially young generation should understand these issues so that we become compassionate and sensitive. I am very happy to be part of Nischinta Foundation and I wish the team 'All the Best'
